We Are Still Good People

We Are Still Good People
I have heard many times people comment that the "end times are here…just look at the world is!" I have heard the comments towards our youth and how uneducated and disrespectful they are.
I view things in a slightly different perspective. Most of us "adults" have done "disrespectful" things in our youth. We all went through phases from the Indian wars to the World Wars. We have gone from Elvis Presley to Van Halen, from Hank Williams to Shania Twain.
Many generalizations of those who are different than the normal and those who aren't our age must obviously be inferior to our o...

Afternoon With Mommy

Afternoon With Mommy
One weekend, in a not so far away place, the Meek family ventured for an entertaining afternoon with my mother!

My mother has been staying with her boyfriend/fiancé for about five or six years now. They live in about a 1200 square foot home on some acreage. They really have a cute place, sky blue, all wood, and white accents, including some intricate molding work on the front porch. They have a very large 5th wheel RV that they travel in on a regular basis. Behind the house sit two large 12X20 storage buildings, one is dedicated to clothes stacked two tiers high; the other is...

Turning Point

Turning Point
March 20th was my adopted father's birthday. He would have been 73 if he were still alive today, and probably still telling great jokes and giving even better advice, that only a son would be arrogant enough to ignore. He couldn't have kids, physically, so he raised my brother and I from the time I was eight. He had served in the Air Force for 22 years as an air traffic controller. My Dad and mother came to visit my wife and I in October of 1996. We had a great visit. After they had left, my wife and I split up…I was devastated. This was the beginning of my three years o...

HIGH SCHOOL

High School Life

High School Life
With all of the questionnaires going around lately about people's lives so we can get to know each other better, I figured it's time for me to share a bit of my not so perfect past…high school! Lee, the square cracker wrote a really good blog about his experience in school, which inspired me to pursue this avenue of writing today. So here it goes!

In high school I wanted to be popular, cool, with the "in" crowd. I played tennis, in the band, member of student council, interact club, key club, and played soccer for a city league. I was a busy boy, and very involved in al...

CHILDREN'S ALLERGIES

Katie's Cashews

Katie's Cashews
She insisted that we head back to the convenient store to buy something for Katie to eat, and hopefully push the cashew out of her throat. I got a little frustrated with her, after all, this was suppose to be a nice relaxing afternoon looking at hopeful new houses. We pulled into the Mini-Mart and Katie began complaining that her stomach was hurting. Jennice quickly ran Katie into the bathroom while I purchased some Benadryl and a thing of crackers. Upon their return, Katie began to vomit out the back door of the Montero. I took a look at our little Katie and her lips and left e...
