At Home With My Daddy

Daddy had to learn how to change my diapers, to make me a bottle, and to feed me. It was hard at first, but he says he liked doing it.
At home, he saw me take my first steps and heard me say my first words. He wishes more daddies could be as lucky as he is.
Sometimes at the playground, he feels different and lonely because he is the only daddy. The other kids are there with their moms.
people tell him he looks funny carrying a diaper bag and pushing my stroller around town, but this does not bother him. Well, maybe just a little.
He is happy to spend the day at home with me, even if it means playing tea party with my dolls.
He misses working in his old office, but he says that being my daddy is the best job anyone could ask for. That makes me feel good.
Daddy takes me to the zoo and teaches me the names and colors of the animals in Spanish. He is from Mexico and that is what people speak there.
We go to the beach and build sand castles and watch the ferryboats go by. He teaches me how to skip rocks on the water.
For dinner he cooks Mexican dishes for me. My favorite is black beans and rice with sour cream. Yummy.
At the end of every day, he tells me how much he loves me and how proud and lucky he is to be able to stay home with me.
Daddy reads me a story, sings a lullaby to me, and kisses me goodnight. Good night, daddy. I love you, too.
